The Cullman County District Attorney's Office has contracted with the Department of Human Resources (DHR) in Cullman County to provide legal services for the child support units of those agencies.
The Child Support Division of the District Attorney’s Office was created in 1976 and serves those agencies and the interests of the State of Alabama in seeing that children are financially supported as required by law.
This service includes filing new petitions for support, modification petitions, contempt petitions for failure to comply with court orders of support, income withholding orders, registration and enforcement of foreign support orders under the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act and various other legal referrals sent to the Division from DHR.
While the interests of the State and the custodial parent, guardian or non-custodial parent may coincide in various proceedings, the Child Support Division attorney does not represent either parent or guardian. Therefore, any parent or guardian with child support questions and concerns should contact their local Department of Human Resources Child Support Unit.
